Publishing World is always changing. Sometimes it is difficult to keep up with all the changes whether it is technical or business wise with publishing houses closing.

I’ve been away from writing and publishing for too long. My goal for the rest of the year and the coming year is to reestablish myself as a writer. It is time to say goodbye to writer’s block excuses and begin filling paper after paper with lists of this and that to give me jarring ideas for the stories that I have in progress. I need to clean up my to be finished pile and start publishing new stuff.

Is this a Lack of Commitment?

– Maybe

Truthfully it has been lack of time.

Class work eats up most of my free time leaving me with the need to use whatever little time I have left for some form of entertainment. That entertainment may come in the form of playing Sim City – my way of trying to learn about economics, World of Warcraft – for the adventurer in me, or attempting to create some craft project. Those craft projects never get very far before I give up due to lack of time and forgetting where I left off.

So why the change?

– School is not over yet but

The publishing world is moving on without me, and I don’t want to be left behind or forgotten. Look at the changes going on with Amazon’s KDP and CreateSpace. I have used those sites for years to publish my works, but I don’t want to have to move everything and receive fewer publishing services. I want better distribution for my books.

That is why I am moving my works, slowly, away from KDP and CreateSpace. I needed to find a better distribution program for my books which is why I started removing my Wings from Ashes series from KDP and CreateSpace.

For beginners, I am using Draft to Digital for the eBook distribution. My books will still be on Amazon Kindle, but they will also be on Kobo, Barnes & Noble Nook, iBooks, and several other outlets. The print versions will be moved to Ingram Spark so that bookstores will be more willing to stock my books in their stores. However, because of the cost involved, this move will happen slowly over the coming months.

In the meantime, I will begin plotting and planning as much as time allows. NaNoWriMo is right around the corner, and I want to be able to say done by November 30^th this year.

Hi There,

So much time has passed since we last met. I’m still in school burying my nose in textbooks every night. I just finished learning about Investment Analysis and International Business. I can’t wait for the day that I can afford to practice buying stocks and other securities.

It is so hard to believe that I have come so far in the past three years. The dream of having a college education is coming true. That goes to prove that one should never give up on their hopes and dreams, one twist to the future can change a person’s course for the better.

Summer is Almost Over

I can’t remember when the last time summer was this hot for New Hampshire. Even the dog and cat are finding the heat uncomfortable. They have both discovered the table fan can provide some relief if they sit in the right spot on the bed.

But our summer wasn’t just the heat, the humidity was unbearable and too much rain. Much of my garden felt the effects of the storms. I lost my entire crop of peaches this year to the chipmunks, squirrels, birds, and the bugs. The peaches were ripe almost a month too early. Not enough rain in April and May made the peaches small. Too much rain in July and August made them mushy.

No worries though, I still have a past crop of peaches in the freezer. If you freeze the peaches with their skins intact, this will prevent them from freezer burn and are great for baking.

Maybe next year I will try buying into a CSA and avoid the need to weed.

NaNoWriMo is around the corner.

I have begun plotting. The goal is to plot out a story that will hold my interest long enough to write all the way to the end in 30 days. I have several unfinished manuscripts where I have hit the spot in the story and can’t decide what is to take place next. I don’t think it is a writer’s block that stumps me but time constraints and the desire to find fun things to do with my time other than writing.

I tend to cycle through various hobbies before finding my way back to writing. The ultimate search for creativity drives me to the final point. So I am making lists of everything about my characters.

Next Writer’s Conference is December 8, 2018 – NHRWA Winter Frolic 2018

I miss going to Writer’s Conferences, this event I’m looking forward to that will feature two speakers.

Kristen Higgins for Character Development and Damon Suede for Plot

This is a one-day event at the Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside, Portsmouth, NH.

A registration fee of $140 is open to the public but does have limited seating.
