Hurricane, Northeaster, Flu, Oh My

And the wicked weather continues in New England…

Who would have thought we would have a Hurricane one week and a Northeaster the very next week. Those poor people who are still without power, I feel for them. I have been in the same kind of situation, somewhat, when we had the ice storm in 2008. We were without power for 12 days. Our power was restored about five days before Christmas.

We had tree limbs and trees down everywhere, and the power crew had to replace every power pole in our town.

This week we lucked out here in Southern New Hampshire. The Northeaster missed us and only dumped about an inch or two of snow on the ground. But get this; it will be in the sixties by Monday. Go figure…

Last week I got my annual flu shot at work. I thought it was odd that my arm, the one I got the shot in, began to hurt all the way down to my fingertips by the end of the day. By Tuesday, I was sick.

My daughter made the trip from Plattsburgh, NY this past weekend with my Granddaughter. She is going through the terrible twos right now and is quite the handful for my daughter. Hence, I at first thought maybe I picked up the illness from my little visitor, but I came down with it too fast for it to be related to what she had. So, I’m pretty sure it has to be related to my flu shot. I have never had this happen to me before in the past three or four years of receiving this annual shot from work.

I just hope that whoever happens to come down with this strain of flu does not have the full force version. The vaccine version was pretty bad – aches, stuffed up head, and fever… but it was the first time I ever had a reaction to a flu vaccine.

Needless to say, I didn’t do any writing this week at all.

Next week is another week.

RWA update:

It is official. I am now a member of the National Romance Writers of America. This weekend I will be joining my local NH Chapter. I can’t wait to be part of this fun group of girls.
